I am a fullstack Software Engineer with a love for developing web APIs and user interfaces that consume the APIs. I have a passion for learning and practicing to improve on what I already know and to discover new technology.
Below is a bird eye's view of my tech stack:
I didn't grow up wanting to be a software developer. In fact, I had no idea how software is created. Then as a 17 year old, I took a web development class at my hometown in Akure, Nigeria.
The class was entirely taught using dreamweaver to create a static webpage. While I didn't learn something huge - just a page divided into two frames; a picture of me on the left frame, and some text about me on the right frame. The experience was special because it got me interested in software development. I didn't want to use drag and drop to create web pages, I wanted to use code to create dynamic web applications.
A bachelor's degree and a web development course on Treehouse later, I got my first job as web developer. At the completion of my master's degree, I moved to Fairfax, Virginia. Got a job as a software engineer at GEICO | BoatUS. And married an amazing girl.
Now that you know me professionally, here's who I am outside work. I love soccer (the real football). I love to play and watch. My favorite team is Manchester United. I also enjoy gaming (team PlayStation). My favorite games to play are FIFA and Call of Duty. You can add me by my username "benorim". My favorite adventure game ever is between "Last of Us" and "Last of Us II".
I love spending time on two wheels - motorcycling and bicycling. Watching TV shows and movies both at home and at the cinema with my wife is also something I enjoy.
Family also means a whole lot to me. My wife, mom, brother, aunt, cousins, and great cousins are the only irreplaceables in my world.
Outside of work, I also enjoy coding for fun or to implement something I have newly learned.
